IU’s Fifth Full-Length Album, [LILAC]
“It’s like the falling pedals”
“I have no doubt in my heart. I’m going to what’s
next”
IU, who indicated that she would bid spectacular “farewell” to the
end of her 20s, has returned with [LILAC], her fifth full-length album, along
with the scent of spring. Unlike her first album in her 20s, [The Spring of Twenty], which was released with honest and
fresh sentiment of a 20 something, the full-length album [LILAC], being
showcased four years after the last album, fully shows how her sentiment has
matured over the years through 10 tracks containing various perspectives on her
20s that have passed by.
Once again this time, IU participated in producing as well as
composing and writing of all songs. IU made attempts at new genres and showcased
high quality songs through new collaborations with various top artists at both
home and abroad, raising expectations for how her musical evolution will continue
to progress as she welcomes her 30s.
Furthermore, VM Project (Celebrity, Flu), the top music video
production company in Korea, Flipevil (Lilac, Epilogue), and SUNNY VISUAL (Coin) participated in this album together and created a strong
synergy among each of their unique and artistic videos and IU’s music.
The symbolic meanings of the flower “lilac”, which both the album
and the title track are named after, are “First Love” and “The Memories of
Youth.” IU's way of her own unique farewell, splendid and yet a little lonely, is
delivered with gratitude to everyone who has watched her from the first page to
the last page of her 20s.
